The past several years has seen a multitude of vaporizer products being introduced to the market. The newness of the industry means that most products have not yet had the opportunity to make a name for themselves as reliable and customer-pleasing.
That being said, several products have distinguished themselves among the ranks of new wax and dry herb vaporizers. Among wax vaporizers, the Yocan Pandon has managed to pack two separate wax atomizers into one portable dabbing pen, making for what is already a legendary amount of vaporization. Meanwhile, the Yocan Evolve Plus deep heating chamber and powerful battery have enabled it to become one of the best wax vape pens on the market.
The same principle holds true for dry herb vaporizers. Of all of the dry herb vape pens that have emerged in the past several years, three have stood out as among the very best: The Apex Pen 2.0, Stoner Joe, and the E-CLIPSE Vaporizer. Each of these three vaporizers have a great deal in common with one another while also offering substantially different vaping experiences to the consumer.
When it comes to their physical attributes, there are vast differences between the three vaporizers.
First, there is the issue of size. The Stoner Joe and the Apex are around the same size at around five inches tall. The E-CLIPSE, however, stands at just 3.75 inches. They are all roughly of equal weight.
Just as important as the vapes’ size is their shape. While the Apex 2.0 is a square shape and the Stoner Joe an almost-square shape, the E-CLIPSE is rectangular; picture the E-CLIPSE as though it could fit snugly in a pack of cigarettes.
On the issues of size and shape, the E-CLIPSE clearly emerges as the most attractive of the three options. It is lightweight, low height, and is shaped in such a way that it is easily slid into the user’s pocket.
A health and fitness vaporizer’s battery is as integral to the consumer’s experience as is the vapor itself. While the three vaporizers’ batteries have identical power levels, they could not be more different when it comes to the quickness with which they reach their highest available temperatures.
All three of the Apex 2.0, Stoner Joe, and the E-CLIPSE have batteries of 2200 mAh. This number is a vast improvement over many of older vaporizer models. For instance, the AtmosRx Vaporizer, a combustion-style vaporizer that is still widely used, has a battery power of just 650 mAh.
There are a number of reasons as to why contemporary batteries will need a higher amount of power. For starters, a higher battery power means that a vaporizer will be able to last longer before needing a recharge. It also means that the vape pen will be able to reach levels of heat that had previously been off-limits to earlier generations of vaporizers.
The Stoner Joe and the E-CLIPSE exhibit exactly the same range of heat capability-- each is able to get anywhere from 300°F to 435°F. The Apex 2.0, by contrast, delivers a spectrum of heat that is that ranges from 200°F to 428°F.
On the issue of degree span, therefore, the Apex 2.0 wins it by a mile: Though it is only 7 degrees off from the highest temperature of the Stoner Joe and the E-CLIPSE, it is able to reach a full 100 degrees below those two vape’s minimum temperature. In terms of customizability for the consumer, that is huge.
And then there is the issue of how much time each vaporizer takes to reach its absolute top temperature. This is another area in which the three vape pens are all over the map.
At the bottom of the pile in terms of heat-up time, ironically, sits the Apex 2.0, which takes approximately 1 minute and 20 seconds to reach 428°F. Next comes the E-CLIPSE, which took 1 minute and 5 seconds to reach its top temperature of 435°F. The top, however, was the Stoner Joe, which far outstripped its competition by reaching its top temperature of 435°F in a lightning-fast 40 seconds.
Finally, related to the issue of the battery and the functionality of the vaporizers is the relative niceness of their OLED screens. The Apex 2.0’s would probably be considered the most dated-looking; the digital face does not have the look of cutting-edge technology.
The E-CLIPSE’s screen is a step in the right direction, as it is both brighter and more clearly seen. The Stoner Joe, however, boasts the best OLED screen of all, one is brighter and more easily read than that of both its counterparts.
There are several other areas to consider when assessing how these three vaporizers stack up against one another.
First, there is the issue of the material out of which each vaporizer’s atomizer is made. The Apex 2.0 features a stainless titanium atomizer, which is known for conducting heat. The E-CLIPSE and the Stoner Joe, on the other hand, utilize a ceramic atomizer. The ceramic heating chamber has the effect of heating up more slowly -- and thus producing vapor more slowly -- but nonetheless produces better-tasting vapor.
Also up for consideration is each vaporizers’ selection of mouthpieces. The Stoner Joe and the Apex 2.0 come equipped in the box with one standard mouthpiece that is with that particular vaporizer until it is no longer functional. The E-CLIPSE however, has both a shorter plastic mouthpiece and a longer glass mouthpiece, allowing users to tailor their vaping session to fit their style and preferences.
To Sum Up: The Apex 2.0, the Stoner Joe, and the E-CLIPSE all have a number of specificities in common but are nonetheless different in a number of key areas. If you want to learn more about dry herb vaporizers, we have several related blog posts that would be good for you to read.
