Along with Puffco’s high-end models come relatively high prices, so it can be difficult to discern if you should spend the money, or if you should apply the funds to a vaporizer from a competing brand.
So that you can better familiarize yourself, we are going to talk more about the Puffco Peak in this review, including how the vaporizer works, a few of its most popular features, its high-level specifications, and how you can decide whether or not it is the model for you.
The Peak concentrate vaporizer is the top-end model in Puffco’s lineup—one that has garnered many awards and only further solidified the company’s reputation for leading tech and design approaches.
The Peak is a concentrate vaporizer made with a rugged silicone base and topped with hand-blown borosilicate glass, which features percolation water filtration for smooth hits. Using a small lip at its bottom, the Glass easily snaps into and out of the base.
Because Puffco outfitted the Peak with adjustable voltage, it delivers highly customizable temperature regulation, with four different heat settings (including Sesh mode), 20-second average heat up time, and built-in smartware that automatically adjusts heat times based on the temperature of the Peak’s ceramic bowl.
Puffco included a light band and haptic functionality for real-time feedback with the Peak, along with a powerful battery that lasts about 30 dabs before requiring a recharge. Your concentrate is held inside a thermal-banger style atomizer with a ceramic bowl, which is manufactured without the use of coils, glues, plastics, or fibers.
Combined, the Puffco Peak was designed to “unlock the true power of concentrates,” including potency, flavor, and effects. What’s more, the process is fast and easy with no learning curve, whether you are a beginner or seasoned professional, for the most efficient and enjoyable experience available.
After adding concentrate to the ceramic bowl, you can select between the Peak's four different heat settings (Low, High, Medium, Peak), depending on whether you prefer to focus on the flavor, creating big clouds, or something in between. Puffco's Sesh Mode also continually heats the concentrate, allowing you to pass your Peak around for a "social dab experience."
Compared to many other portable concentrate vaporizers, which can take three minutes (or longer) to properly heat and cool, the Puffco Peak boasts a heat-up time of just 20 seconds, giving you the opportunity to enjoy more and wait for less.
While you are dabbing with your Peak, its smart software uses intelligent temperature calibration to adjust heat times depending on the temperature of your bowl, thereby delivering a more consistent experience during repeated use (including during Sesh mode).
Dabbing with the Peak is not just a set-it-and-forget-it experience, since its discreet light band indicates battery level and heat cycle, and turns off when it is not needed. Furthermore, the Peak’s haptic feedback lets you know when it is the perfect time to take a hit.
Puffco outfitted the Peak with a 1400mAh battery, which provides enough power for about 30 dabs on a full charge. When the time inevitably arrives, using the supercharger means that your Peak’s battery can be fully recharged in just two hours.
Each Puffco Peak kit comes with everything you need to start using the concentrate vaporizer, including the following:
Puffco also offers accessories for the Peak, include a Travel Pack (carb cap tether, backpack, splash cap, atomizer cover), replacement atomizers, colored borosilicate glass (pink, black, purple, green, yellow, blue), and colored ball caps and tethers, many of which you can purchase directly from Puffco, or here on VapeVetStore.com!
You can always check your Peak’s remaining battery life by clicking the front button three times, which will display the following colors:
When the time comes, you will plug the micro USB cable into the port at the bottom of the Peak’s base, and the other end into a USB port (such as in a computer). While it is charging, the light will pulse white, and then will automatically turn off once it is complete.
After fully charging your Puffco Peak, you will detach the borosilicate glass from the base and fill it with water to just above the air-holes. Then, carefully reinstall the Glass by aligning its inlet hole with the atomizer, pushing down on the front until the lip latches down, and then applying the same pressure toward the back.
Power on your Peak by holding down the button for three seconds, and then use the same button to toggle through the four heat settings:
You will then add your concentrate to the Peak’s bowl by adding a small amount to the bottom surface (avoid overfilling), placing the carb cap on top of the atomizer (with the included tether in place), and double-click the button to initiate the heat-up process. At this point, the light will begin pulsing to indicate that heating is active.
Once the light begins flashing three times, the Peak’s base will also vibrate to indicate that it is ready for vaporizing.
After each use, you will want to make sure that you clean your Peak’s ceramic bowl with a cotton swab (four are included with each kit).
Once enough material has built up inside your Peak’s atomizer, you can remove it by unscrewing the base—after it has had sufficient time to cool!—and then soaking the fully assembled piece in 99% isopropyl alcohol for 30 minutes. If you have a large enough container, you can add the glass and carb cab to your alcohol solution at the same time.
After you are finished, rinse everything clean with water and allow sufficient time to dry thoroughly. Before re-inserting, make sure you also clean the gold threads and connector in the base using a cotton swab.
If you need to store your Puffco Peak after cleaning, you can keep the Glass separate for a slimmer profile.
The Puffco Peak is an excellent option if you are passionate about maintaining the full experience of concentrates, including their flavor, intensity, potency, and effects, without having to worry about a steep learning curve.
The Peak also comes with several advantageous features, including adjustable voltage, four different heat settings, smart temperature control, and a ceramic bowl inside its atomizer, so you will typically achieve a better vaping experience than atomizers that use quartz coils.
Most customers who use the Peak vaporizer report high-quality construction and positive experiences, and are pleased that Puffco stands behind the Peak with a one-year limited warranty.
Combined with its wholly unique design and appearance, along with its customizable colored accessories, there is simply nothing else exactly like the Puffco Peak currently available in the marketplace.
With an MSRP of $399, though, the Puffco Peak isn’t exactly inexpensive. However, it is relatively in line with high-tech models from competing vaporizer manufacturers, such as the Crafty Plus Vape from Storz and Bickel. Comparatively, you can use concentrates or flower with the Crafty Plus, which also boasts double the battery life of the Peak, at 60 minutes.
However, the Crafty Plus takes meaningfully longer to heat up than the Puffco Plus at 60 seconds and only heats to a maximum of 410°F inside its stainless-steel chamber. You can adjust the temperature via Storz and Bickel’s smartphone app, which could be a nice feature to have, depending on your needs and preferences.
Overall, the Puffco Peak represents concentrate vaping at its “peak”—no pun intended. So, if you can afford the price tag, you likely will not be disappointed by its real-world performance.
