APX Wax Vape Box Mod Review
These devices are convenient, portable and do a great job of vaporizing wax, shatter and sauce concentrates. The Pulsar APX wax vape is one of the best options on the market right now in terms of vapor production, flavor, battery life, portability and ease of use. We will break down the Pulsar APX and look at how it stacks up to other wax vape pen. Not to be confused for a dry herb vaporizers also.
Top Attributes
When looking for a wax vape, there are several key qualities we look for. First, we want to look at how heavy a vapor can the vape can produce. Equally important, we determine the quality of taste the vaporizer makes. Most quality wax vapes use either ceramic or quartz coils. Both of these materials provide excellent flavor from wax concentrates. Next, we take a look at battery life. While this may not be as important as the quality of vapor, many users want a wax vape that lasts a full day of dabbing. Finally, we look at the portability and ease of use of each vape. We also like to see what makes one vape stand out among the crowd.
Vapor Thickness and Taste
The Pulsar APX wax vape is unique in that it features a triple quartz coil atomizer. Most quartz coil wax vapes either use single or dual quartz coils, while some, larger dab pens boast quad coils. We found the triple quartz coils on the APX provide the perfect balance between portability and solid vapor production. While ripping a quad coil vape provides massive clouds, it is often overkill and not the most discreet. The triple quartz coils on the APX still provide enough heat and surface area to generate thick, tasty vapor and end up using less energy and battery than quad coils.
The quartz coils provide ultra clean flavor so you taste just the pure flavor of your wax when using the APX wax vape. Furthermore, the glass mouthpiece provides the ultimate clean vaping experience. Many other wax vapes use metal mouthpieces. If made of high-quality stainless steel, we don’t notice much of a difference in flavor, but nothing beats glass.
Battery Life
At only 3 1/2 inches tall, somehow Pulsar fit a massive 1100 mAh high quality lithium-ion battery in this vape. Heating the triple quad coils on the APX, this battery is powerful enough to go a few days without a charge under average use. You would be hard pressed to drain this battery in a single day. While this quality battery lasts a long time, it can be fully charged after drained in just an hour and a half.
Portability and Ease of Use
The Pulsar APX wax vape looks similar to many box mods used for vaping e juice. Therefore, this vape is more discreet looking than some other wax vapes. It is only 3 1/2 inches tall, making it easy to slip into a pocket or small purse. Its convenient box shape fits easily in your hand and has a nice feel to it. The APX wax vape heats the coils as you hold the power button so there is no need to mess with complicated temperature settings. Just load it, turn it on and start vaping for a great dabbing experience.
How to Use the Pulsar APX Wax Vaporizer
The APX wax vape could not be easier to use. Pop off the glass mouthpiece to reveal the open atomizer with its three quartz coils. Drop a dab of wax about the size of a grain of rice onto the coils and pop slip the mouthpiece back into place. Next, press the power button five times quickly to turn the vaporizer on. Hold the power button down to heat the coils. These quartz coils heat quickly so you can precook your wax for a second or two on the first hit or just start inhaling right away. Start out small as this vape can really rip hard.
Make sure to keep the APX upright after use so any leftover wax does not drip out of the atomizer. Once you finish all the concentrate and allow any residue to harden, it is okay to put it on its side in a bag but you definitely do not want to do this with liquid wax still in the atomizer.
To charge the APX, use the included micro USB cable or any micro USB cable and charger. A full charge takes about 1 ½ hours and will last a couple days under normal use.
Maintaining and Cleaning
Coils will last a month or two under regular use and are easy to replace. Make sure to order extra coils before you run out. If it has only been a few weeks but you are getting a nasty flavor off your coils, we recommend you change the coils. This often happens if you vape a lower quality wax or concentrate.
Cleaning the Pulsar APX wax vape is simple. To clean the coils, just burn off the concentrate completely each session. The exterior of the vape and mouthpiece can be wiped with a towel dipped in isopropyl alcohol.
How the Pulsar APX Wax Vape Compares to Other Wax Vapes
There are many great wax vapes available and most are around the same price point. The Pulsar APX wax vape is unique in its triple quartz coils and quite portable, fitting easily in the palm of your hand.
Yocan is another company making quality wax vapes. These vapes are pen style so they tend to be a bit longer and it is up to personal preference whether you like the pen or box style vapes. Yocan has four solid wax vapes, the Yocan Pandon, Evolve, Evolve Plus, and Evolve Plus XL. The Pandon and Evolve Plus XL are the heavy hitters with four quartz coils each. They also feature large batteries that provide plenty of power for all four coils and will keep you vaping all day. Both these pens are definitely bulkier than the APX and the APX’s triple quartz coils make a vapor that easily competes with both the Evolve Plus XL and the Pandon.
The Evolve and Evolve Plus have dual quartz coils. These still provide a nice vapor but will not hit as hard as the APX. However, the Yocan pens all feature a smart coil cap that seals the atomizer. This prevents wax from leaking out of the atomizer when put on its side. The Evolve Plus and Plus XL have an attached silicone dab jar on the base of the pen. This makes these pens perfect for travel.
If you are not a big dabber and just want something small and simple for vaping wax, there are more budget options. The Saber vape is an excellent quality single quartz coil vape. It will not provide the huge rips that you get from the APX, but it costs just over half the price of the APX and still made of high quality components. Plus it features all magnetic connections making it the easiest wax vape to swap atomizers, load and hit. This is a great option if you do not need massive dab-like hits from a wax vaporizer.
Is the APX Wax Vape for Me?
The APX wax vape is perfect if you want a portable wax vaporizer that still provides massive rips. It has a long lasting battery which is perfect for users who are always on the go. However, it does not have a sealed atomizer so you should keep it upright if there is still hot wax inside. If you are constantly taking quick dabs and leaving wax in the atomizer on the run, one of the Yocan pens might work better for you. Also, if you happen to be super forgetful and are always forgetting your stash, the attached silicone dab jars on the Yocan Evolve Plus and Plus XL will save you.
If you have a low budget and do not need massive hits from your wax vape, consider a more affordable, single coil wax vaporizer like the Saber vape or even the dual coil Yocan Evolve. These pens do not have the battery life of the APX but will still last a full day of vaping.
That being said, we think the Pulsar APX is one of the best all-around wax vapes on the market. At under $100, it is an affordable portable dab rig that fits in the palm of your hand and boasts a powerful battery. Its triple quartz coils produce massive thick clouds and excellent flavor. We think this wax vape is perfect for almost everyone.
