What You Should Know About Vaping And CBD Oils
The concept of vaping is still one that's relatively new with a lot of gray areas and misconceptions about it. You might have heard about vaping but still unsure of what it really means, or you might be a regular vaper, yet know very little about the effects, whether positive or negative. This article will expose you to all you need to know about vaping, especially with regards to vaping CBD oils. Before we get started, let’s take a look at what vaping and CBD oils are.
What is Vaping?
Vaping or using of a dry herb vaporizer or a wax vaporizer is the inhaling of vapor from a liquid using a vaping device. The vaping device contains a tank to hold the liquid to be smoked and an atomizer that heats the liquid until it turns to vapor. There are different kinds of vaping devices such as e-cigarettes and vape pens and most vaping devices are powered by batteries.
The liquid in a vaping device is what matters most to vapers and it is basically made up of various chemicals and flavorings. The first incident of real vaping might have been recorded in 2003 when a Chinese pharmacist, Hon Lik produced a vaping device to help him ingest tobacco without having to inhale soot and other respiratory tract irritants associated with smoking. Some other history records put the history of e-cigarettes to as early as 1963 in the US. Vaping became popular among American youths from around 2010 and 2015 when it was first portrayed as a better alternative to smoking and was commonplace among celebrities, particularly musicians. Since then, researchers have been ongoing to determine what key effects vaping may poise on the general wellbeing of vapers.
The most common constituent found in vaping liquids is nicotine, which is also the active ingredient found in normal cigarettes, cigars and pipes. Nicotine is a highly addictive substance which is also known to affect brain concentration and stability, induce drowsiness and may become toxic to the body system when taken at high levels.
The constituents of vaping liquids can however vary depending on the vaper's choice. Examples of other vaping liquids are those with THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) components, CBD oils, and other aromatherapeutic oils.
What is CBD?
CBD is the short term used for Cannabidiol, a naturally occurring cannabinoid found in Cannabis sativa commonly known as cannabis or hemp or marijuana depending on the locality. CBD became popular amongst other cannabinoids for its many perceived health benefits and has since then been used as a drug, taken by sports lovers and also processed into many edible forms such as capsules, oil tinctures, and vape juice. In locations where CBD has been made legal, it is also common to find CBD as an active constituent in various edibles like pastries, candies, and drinks. In fact, CBD is fast becoming a common ingredient in many food recipes.
All about Vaping CBD Oils
CBD vaporizers do not contain nicotine unlike many other kinds of cigarettes and vape juice. This means vaping CBD oils will not become an addiction overtime. Also, CBD is a constituent of cannabis that does not contain THC. THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) is the psychoactive substance present in cannabis and is responsible for the 'mental high' effect when cannabis is taken. Vaping CBD oils will however cause no disruption to mental stability and concentration since it contains no THC.
Vaping CBD oils is better put as vaping CBD vape juice or vape oil since CBD oil tinctures are not suitable for inhaling. Vaping CBD is generally safe and recent research has shown that CBD or Cannabidiol has many potential health benefits when taken such as anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties, promoting restful sleep, alleviating stress and anxiety, treating depression as well as muscle development and stamina build-up. Vaping CBD oils may therefore be a way of ingesting CBD to help treat medical conditions. CBD is assimilated faster into the bloodstream when inhaled than when swallowed or injected. However, like any other drug, CBD or CBD oils should not be taken without first of all consulting a doctor as CBD may inhibit the function of other drugs.
Since CBD is not an over-the-counter drug, little is known about dosage specifics. Some researchers have shown that pure CBD is very low in toxicity and therefore will require very high doses to put any individual at lethal risks. For a start, vaping CBD should be done in little amounts as different persons may show different tolerance levels.
Vaping CBD oils have also been shown to be a great option for people who are willing to quit smoking or those who generally want to imbibe a healthier smoking habit. Vaping CBD can help the brain have a perceived sense of smoking while inhaling little or no harmful substance since CBD has zero nicotine, tobacco, tar, and THC constituents. These constituents are highly harmful and are responsible for the many health risks associated with smoking such as lung cancer, respiratory tract infection, chronic cough, and untimely death. The habit-forming nature of nicotine makes tobacco smokers keep going back for more, thereby exposing their lungs to these harmful chemical substances.
Even though little is still known on the long-term effects of vaping CBD oils, as long as it does not contain THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), vaping CBD oils in itself is safe, non-habit forming, and poses few health risks compared to smoking cigarettes or vaping other liquids with nicotine additives. Before getting any CBD oil vape or pen, it is necessary to make a check on the ingredients and flavorings used as some flavorings may cause respiratory tract irritation or other allergic reactions in some individuals. Avoid the use of chemical based flavorings. Instead consider more conventional, fruity or spicy flavors such as caramel, chocolate, vanilla, tropical, or cinnamon.
Never modify or add any other substance to vaping oils unless there is permission to do so by the manufacturer. Avoid using CBD oils gotten from black markets and unknown sources. Getting CBD oils and vaping devices from trusted sources means you can vouch for their purity and concentration for safe vaping.
