What Are the Benefits of Temperature Control
Temperature control is one of the newer (and also one of the best) inventions to vaping devices since their introduction into the market. This engaging feature provides the user with a more controlled vaping experience, while also helping to prevent those unpleasant burnt flavored hits. After all, many vaping devices can be used for multiple types of material, and each one can vary in what temperature is required for an optimal experience.
What is Vape Temperature Control?
Temperature control vaping is pretty much exactly how it sounds. It is a vape mod used to prevent burnt and or dry hits by allowing the user to control the temperature limit. For example, if the user sets the temperature to 300 degrees Fahrenheit, the vaping device will automatically power your coil and temperature to 300 degrees Fahrenheit. This provides a constant temperature which in turn creates a consistent vape for the user, so they are able to take longer better drags from their device.
How to Control Vape Temperatures
The overall idea and premise of how the temperature control feature works are fairly straightforward and easy to understand. It operates by both detecting and monitoring the resistance of the coil in the vaping device. The coil resistance changes as your device changes in temperature. Therefore, this feature (or mod) can calculate the corresponding changes to the temperature of the device based on the linear increases created by the resistance of the coil.
In other words, think of it as the cruise control setting of the vaping device. It allows you to set the temperature (like the speed for your cruise control) you want to vape. The coil resistance is measured and monitored by the temperature control of the device. Once you fire the device up, it will measure the level of coil resistance. After it reaches the desired temperature, temperature control (or your cruise control) will maintain the temperature by either reducing or stopping the amount of power being provided to your coil.
Another thing to keep in mind is not all vaping devices use temperature control to set the temperature. In fact, many vaping devices (such as vape pens, sticks, etc.) used for vaping oil or wax do not have a temperature control feature like a box mod or dry herb vape, instead, they use variable voltage in order to control the amount of heat within the device. In a variable voltage device, there is typically some method to change the amount of voltage used while vaping with your device. For example, the SteamCloud EVOD Vape Battery can be used for wax, oil, and dry herbs. To change the voltage, you simply adjust the dial at the base of the device.
What is the Best Vaping Temperature?
Unfortunately, there is no universal best setting when it comes to vaping. There are many factors to consider when choosing the optimal temperature setting for your device. For example, what type of hit you are looking for. Typically, a good rule of thumb to remember is the higher the temperature the more vapor you will create and the harsher the hit will be. To find what works best for you will require a little trial and error with the temperature control settings on your device.
Keep in mind, the type of material you vape is just as important as the type of hit you are looking for when determining the perfect temperature setting. Different materials create vapor at different temperature levels, and knowing the correct heating ranges is essential for customizing both your temperature and your vaping experience.
E-Juice Vaping Temperatures
E-juice does not require as high of a temperature to produce large vapor clouds. While it does follow the general rules of vaping (ex. Higher temperatures produce larger clouds and harsher flavor), you will want to stick between 400 to 500 degrees Fahrenheit (or 204 to 260 degrees Celsius) while working to customize your device. For those using a vaping device with variable wattage, you will want to stay between 1 and 60 watts.
Dry Herb Vaping Temperatures
Dry herbs are another material that requires lower temperatures to vape. This is especially true if you are trying to bring out the flavor tones of your dry herbs, as higher temperatures will release more of the chemical compounds within your herbs creating harsher hits. To get the best vaping session, you will want to stay somewhere between 325 and 450 degrees Fahrenheit (160 to 235 degrees Celsius); or if you are using variable voltage or a box mod, you will want to start on the lowest setting and slowly work your way up to the temperature you feel is most suitable for you.
Oil Vaping Temperatures
Just like dry herbs, if you vape oil at too high a temperature you will burn it (which can and will carry over into the flavor of your hit). On the other hand, if you vape with too low of a temperature setting, you won’t get much vapor at all. Therefore, you should be using a variable voltage battery and select a voltage setting between 3.2V and 4.8V. It depends if your battery has a twist variable voltage like the SteamCloud EVOD or a preset variable voltage battery like the SteamCloud Mini 2.0. You coud also use a box mod to vape oil. It’s recommended to start at the lowest wattage and work your way up to the desired setting, which could be as high as 25 watts.
Wax Vaping Temperatures
Unlike other concentrates, wax has the highest temperature range for vaping with a range of 325 to 900 degrees Fahrenheit (160 to 485 degrees Celsius). This is partially due to the fact that there are many aspects to consider. Wax can vary in thickness, flavor, consistency, and more. However, despite the wider temperature range, you still will want to experiment using the same general rules. Choose lower temperatures for thinner, more flavorful vapor; or high temperatures for larger, harsher cloud hits.
What Are the Benefits of Temperature Control?
Controlling the temperature of your vaping device provides you with a number of benefits and advantages. These include:
Consistent and Reliable Vape Sessions
Plain and simple, with temperature control you know what to expect. When you use temperature-controlled vaping, you get a reliable and consistent performance from your device. All you have to do is simply set your temperature control and fire up your device. While there is no added flare to using this feature, this feature provides you with a consistent and reliable vaping experience - one that is packed with flavor without overloading either your coil or the batteries.
Safer Vaping
When using a vaping device (especially if you are messing with different features), it can be easy to put a strain on your batteries. Prolonged periods of this needless strain can result in issues with the battery. Thankfully temperature control settings help prevent any unnecessary output. The batteries are never needlessly strained. Due to this, it not only increases the longevity and performance of the battery but can also make the device and battery safer for the user.
Longer Lasting Vape Coils
While the exact coil and material will determine the outcome, another common benefit of temperature control is it increases the lifespan of your coils. You are still able to get larger clouds and better flavoring, it does not happen at the expense of providing too much power. Temperature control monitors and regulates the amount of power given to your coils preventing early burnout.
Flavor, Flavor, and More Flavor
Did I Mention No Dry or Burnt Hits. One of the most common reasons a user opts for temperature control is due to the ability to escape the horrible tastes associated with dry hits and puffs. While there are a number of ways to avoid these burnt flavored hits, temperature control provides a key solution to this issue. For example, when using temperature control it will automatically register when the material begins running low and creates a rise in temperature. This feature will protect your coils and regulate the amount of power given to your coil to maintain your current temperature settings.
What Are the Disadvantages of Temperature Control?
While there are many benefits to using temperature control, there are two disadvantages to keep in mind before you make your purchase. These include (but are not limited to):
can be complicated for new users.
While the entire process is fairly straightforward, temperature control is not something you can master overnight. It tends to require trial and error to learn the best temperature for your material, and how to tweak the feature here and there to fit your exact needs and wants.
only available with certain types of wire material.
It is extremely important that you only use a temperature control designed wire or coil made from one of these four main types of vaping wire. They include Nickel 200 (Ni200), Nickel Ferrous (NiFe), Stainless Steel (SS), and Titanium Grade 1 (Ti).
Temperature controlled vaping can provide an impressive experience. It offers a consistency you cannot get from a regular (non-controlled) device. This feature provides the solution to not only dry, burnt-flavored hits, but from your device getting too hot as well.
