The Stoner Joe Dry Herb Vaporizer Review

The ‘Stoner Joe the Bunny’ cartoon character was created for an independent publication in which the titular character found himself on wacky adventures, blazed completely out of his mind. Picture The Big Lebowski, in cartoon form.

Stoner Joe’s popularity was sufficient for him to be the namesake of a new vape pen, and we owe him a measure of thanks: Stoner Joe’s Dry Herb Vaporizer is one of the most balanced and technologically advanced dry herb vaporizers currently available on the market.

Stoner Joe Vape Basics

As its name indicates, the Stoner Joe Dry Herb Vaporizer is only to be used with dry herbs; it is not compatible with shatter, wax, or oil.

Dry herb vaporizer pens are available with two distinct methods of producing the desired outcome. The first is called combustion vaporization. Products that go this route -- such as the AGO G5 or Yocan 94F -- come with vape coils that directly touch the dry herbs. This process emits smoke soon thereafter, which the consumer inhales.

Convection Vaporization works differently than Combustion. Instead of the heating element coming into direct contact with the dry herbs, they are instead placed in a convection oven through which hot air is blasted, accruing the compounds of the dry herbs to form the vapor that is then inhaled by the consumer. The process ensures that there is less wear and tear on the user’s lungs -- since smoke contains toxins -- and allows for blazing sessions that are more discreet than they would otherwise be.

Another distinction to be made between dry herb vape pens is the material out of which the heating chamber is made. The first option -- which is less expensive and ultimately less flavorful -- is stainless steel. The second option -- which is more high-scale and ultimately more rewarding -- is ceramics.

The Stoner Joe vape pen has the best of both worlds: It features convection-oven vaporization, with the dry herbs being stored in a ceramic oven. This helps account for why the Stoner Joe’s vapor flavor is a cut above many -- if not all -- of its competitors.

Vape Battery

Perhaps just as vital to a vaporizer as the substance it is vaping is the strength and longevity of its battery. Many vape pens have come along that feature solid atomizers and are lightweight and portable, but have batteries that are either short-lived or are not equipped with temperature settings, which also influence the battery life (more on that later.)

Batteries have followed much of the same evolutionary trajectory as have vaporizers’ atomizers. The earliest vapes featured batteries that lasted a fraction of the time that batteries do today, often yielding only a few precious hits before crapping out.

The newer generations of vaporizers -- particularly those that relied upon convection oven technology -- helped pave the way toward a better battery-powered future. Vaporizers like the Titan 1 and Titan 2 provided a long-lasting battery with superior vaporization technology -- and all at a reasonable and affordable price. These vaporizers demonstrated that convection-oven batteries must come equipped with a superior battery in order for them to function properly, which is exactly what they provided.

The Stoner Joe takes that principle to the next level. While maintaining a smaller frame and a formidable convection oven, the vape nevertheless delivers a battery life that is all but unmatched in the vaporizer industry: It clocks in at 2200 mAh, all but unheard-of for a vaporizer its size. And as if that wasn’t enough, it features a built-in timer that shuts it off automatically (Five Minutes), so as to not waste the battery if it’s been left on.

Other Vape Features

At this point, the Stoner Joe would already be considered one of the all-around best vaporizers on the market. However, there are a number of other features to the Stoner Joe that truly make it a next-level vape pen.

For starters, the time required for the Stoner Joe to heat up to the temperature set by the user is unheard-of among vaporizers: In 45 seconds or less, the Stoner Joe is able to reach even the maximum temperature of 435°F. For an industry that was only just getting on its feet five years ago, that’s one hell of an improvement.

Another significant aspect to the Stoner Joe is its temperature control. Many vaporizers of yesteryear featured no temperature control at all; if they did, they did not feature any more than three settings through which the consumer could toggle to try to find the setting that best suited their mood.

The Stoner Joe has taken a giant leap forward in that it has made the entire process of choosing a setting to be fully customizable. Instead of being stuck with one to three standard vape settings, consumers instead are able to select a temperature anywhere from 300°F to 435°F.

This not only puts more power into the hands of the consumer; it also has a tremendous effect on its battery life, as a lower setting will correlate to a decrease in battery expenditure and a potentially longer-lasting vape pen.

Finally, the Stoner Joe also features an OLED screen that displays the temperature at which the vape's oven is currently set, the temperature at which the pen should be set, and the battery life. This key feature enables the consumer to remain actively involved in the vaping process, allowing them to know when the time is needed for a recharge and whether they should dial back on the usage in order to conserve battery.

To Sum Up: The Stoner Joe is a sophisticated and dependable dry herb vaporizer that combines cutting-edge temperature settings, battery power, and vaporization methods.
