The Atmos R2 is a new device from Atmos. This new update to the R2 vaporizer pen features a coil-less chamber design for true vapor, on top of previous improvements over the Rx, such as producing more heat and has a new ergonomic handle and unique form factor that set it apart from the Rx and Jr models.

Atmos R2 Vaporizer Review

The New Atmos R2 also sports both a revamped chamber with an unexposed heating coil AND an anodized heating coil that gets hotter than ever before, allowing for a purer taste, more efficient heating, and more reliability than the previous Atmos pens.

Turning your device on and off:

Press the power button 5 times very rapidly to turn your device on or off. You will know the device is on if pressing the power button causes the light at the bottom of the battery and the power button light to come on. If no lights come on when pressing the power button, try pressing the power button 5 times rapidly (to turn the device on) or charging your battery.

Instructions for vaporizing dry herbs:

Thankfully, this is very simple now, thanks to the coil-free design of the chamber. Simply load your herbs, and heat the chamber continuously for roughly 10-20 seconds to produce vapor. To avoid the battery pausing after 10 seconds, you can let go and rapidly press and hold it again.

Old R2 Vaporizer Model with an Exposed Heating Coil:

If you just want to combust your herbs, you don't need the glass screens or the mesh filters. Simply load your chamber, hold the power button down, and start inhaling after roughly 2-4 seconds. If you want to vaporize your herbs without burning them, you will need to follow the instructions below.

Vaping with one glass screen:

1. Remove the spring from the mouthpiece (unscrew the mouthpiece from the chamber, pull off the rubber piece, and push the spring out)
2. Place just one of the glass screen provided inside the heating chamber, directly on top of the heating coil.
3. Grind your herbs and place a few pinches onto the glass screen. Packing less herbs usually makes producing vapor easier.
4. Heat the chamber for about 2-4 seconds and begin inhaling slowly. If you wait too long, you may accidentally combust. If you inhale too soon, you may not get vapor.
5. If you can't seem to prevent combustion with this method, try vaping with 2 glass screens.

Vaping with 2 glass screens:

1. Remove the spring from the mouthpiece (unscrew the mouthpiece from the chamber, pull off the rubber piece, and push the spring out)
2. Place 2 of the glass screen filters inside the heating chamber.
3. Hold the power button down for about 5-7 seconds at a time, then release before the automatic shut-off begins. Rapidly press it down again, and repeat. Do this for 10-20 seconds.
4. Your chamber should now be hot enough to produce vapor from the herbs
5. If you don't produce vapor, try powering the device for longer, or try Technique 1.
6. If you combust with this technique, try powering the device for less time, or try Technique 3.

Vaping 3 Glass Screens:

1. Remove the spring from the mouthpiece (unscrew the mouthpiece from the chamber, pull off the rubber piece, and push the spring out)
2. Place 1-3 of the glass screen filters inside the heating chamber (start with just one and only add more if one screen doesn't prevent combustion). This step is important because it will prevent the metal mesh filters from making contact with the heating coil (which you definitely don't want to happen).
3. Place your herbs into the chamber.
4. Screw the mouthpiece on. If the mesh screens are in the way, either bend the edges inward, away from the threading, or clip them so they don't prevent you from screwing on the mouthpiece
5. With the mouthpiece on, press the power button to begin heating up the chamber.
6. Hold the power button down for about 5-7 seconds at a time, then release before the automatic shut-off begins. Rapidly press it down again, and repeat. Do this for 10-20 seconds.
7. Your chamber should now be hot enough to produce vapor from the herbs

How to tell the difference between smoke and vapor: smoke will have a distinct smoke taste to it, and it will be thicker, smell stronger, and linger in the air longer. Combusted smoke will also happen after only 2-4 seconds of heating the chamber. If you want vapor and not smoke, look for a cloud that tastes more like your herbs (and not smoke), doesn't smell as strong, dissipates in the air faster, and doesn't smell as strong.

Vape Tips: When you heat the chamber for the first time, try taking a hit. If you immediately get smoke, note that this is NOT vapor. Some herbs probably fell onto the heating coil (vapor takes much longer to cook up, so immediate smoke is not vapor). Either take hits until the herbs on the coil are all spent, or heating the chamber and re-pack more carefully.
