What Is Dabbing?

Dabbing is the process of vaping wax concentrates through the use of a dab rig or a wax pen. Dab rigs are similar to bongs, except instead of a bong bowl for dry herbs, dab rigs have a dab nail for wax concentrates.

When dabbing, the dab nail is super-heated, usually employing a blowtorch, and the wax is applied to create vapor. If using a dab or wax pen, the wax concentrate is placed onto the heating element inside of the heating chamber, which is then super-heated to create vapor.

If you want the best of both worlds, consider an e-nail, like the G Pen Connect. It fits into a traditional dab rig, but the nail is precisely heated via a battery, so no blowtorch is required! It also keeps your dab nail at the perfect temperature for dabbing. You can also opt for a high-end choice, like the Kandypens Oura, which is an electric, completely self-contained, dab rig system!

Unlike oil vaping, the vapor produced from wax concentrates is extremely potent. Many vaping enthusiasts will transition from oil or dry herb vaping to dabbing for the concentrated potency that waxes provide. Just one or two hits from dabbing can equal an entire vaping session of traditional oils or dry herbs.

How to Choose Dabbing Products?

There are a lot of products to choose from if you are new to dabbing, and though you may feel overwhelmed, there are easy ways to narrow down your product choices. First and foremost, you will want to decide between a dab rig or a dab pen. Dab pens are simple to use, don’t require a blow torch, and are portable and discreet. Dab rigs are easier to customize, come with water filtration for the vapor (like a bong), and have a great aesthetic.

The next decision you’ll make is the kind of dab nail or heating coil you want to use. Dab nails and coils are available in ceramic, quartz, and titanium, with each having their own pros and cons. Ceramic holds heat better but takes longer to reach temperature. Many also swear by the clean, crisp taste that ceramic provides.

Quartz is cheaper and heats more easily, but doesn’t hold heat as well and has a shorter lifespan. Titanium is durable, and it is easy to tell when it is at temperature (it will glow red hot). However, it is one of the more expensive choices.

If you plan on using an enail, electric dab rig, or wax pen, you just need to compare varying features and price points to see which product best fits your needs and your budget. Most high-end devices come with impressive warranties, so be sure to check them out before buying!

There isn’t a wrong answer for the dabbing products you decide to buy. If you are having trouble making a decision (especially if you have never dabbed before), we would love to help you!
