Yocan Cerum Wax Atomizer Review

One of the least reported advancements about wax vape pens in the past several years is how many of their vape parts have become interchangeable. Gone are the days when a vaporizer was not at all customizable and the consumer was beholden simply to the specs of that particular vape pen.

Things are very different these days. Most contemporary vape pens have an array of interchangeable options that may be used and replaced across a variety of different products.

The Yocan Cerum Wax Atomizer is a perfect example of this phenomenon. This small heating chamber is nonetheless compatible with a number of different vaporizers, making it one of the most useful accessories that a vaporizer enthusiast could have in their dab pen collection.

The Basics

Before getting into the specifications of the Yocan Cerum, it is important to know the product’s background.

Most vape pens feature a heating chamber -- also referred to as an atomizer -- in which the consumer places the substance that they’re vaping. Atomizers differ depending on whether the user is vaping dry herbs, wax, shatter, or oils: Some heating chambers -- such as the E-CLIPSE -- are designed so as to deal exclusively with dry herbs; others -- like the Yocan Evolve Plus XL -- are exclusively designed for shatter or wax. (A small subset of vape pens -- such as the Atmos Rx or the AGO G5 -- feature a pancake coil that is compatible with both dry herbs and wax.)

The decision about whether to stick solely with dry herbs or wax is largely dependent upon consumer preferences. Traditionalists -- and those who tend to live in states in which cannabis products are not widely available -- might tend to favor dry herbs; consumers looking to vape either more frequently or achieve a greater high in a given vaping session would likely have a preference for shatter or wax. (Wax enthusiasts also point out that carrying wax around is much less burdensome and more discreet than is carrying around a pocketful of dry herbs.)

For those portable vape pens that are exclusively wax-burning, there are multiple kinds of vape coils from which consumers may choose, depending on their budget and tastes. The more budget-minded consumer will likely opt for either a single rod ceramic or wick coils, which are prevalent in less expensive items like the Micro Vape.

Consumers for whom the vaping experience -- and not their budget -- is the primary concern, quartz coils are most often the ones to choose. Quartz rods not only deliver a more pure and flavorful vaping experience; because of their design, they also tend to minimize the amount of wax that is wasted as it collects at the bottom of the heating chamber.

Obviously, the more vape coils that are built into an atomizer, the higher-functioning that atomizer tends to be. A vaporizer with two coils built into its heating chamber will tend to emit a greater amount of vapor than would a vape pen that features only one vape coil.

The Yocan Cerum wax atomizer provides just the sort of experience about which vaporizer enthusiasts dream: It is a wide and deep heating chamber that features two quartz coils. The relative largeness of its size means that users are able to pack it with more shatter or wax than many of the atomizers currently on the market, ensuring a fruitful vaping session with the minimal amount of hassle on the part of the consumer. And when paired with a truly high-functioning box mod vape, the Yocan Cerum has the ability to deliver more powerful hits than almost any standard portable wax pen on the market.

Compatibility

As with any portable vaporizer or accessory, much of how the product is used is dependent upon the other products with which it is compatible. Some of the higher-end products -- such as the Stoner Joe -- are designed in a way that makes them compatible with very few other products; others -- like the Yocan Evolve Plus -- are compatible with multiple vape pens and accessories.

The Yocan Cerum splits the difference. Because it is an atomizer and not a full-on wax vaporizer, it is compatible with several different batteries. That is not to say, however, that it is universally compatible.

Part of the compatibility issue comes down to something called threading. Threading is a fancy word for the way in which an atomizer or mouthpiece is screwed into the vaporizer or its battery. The Yocan Cerum is not accompanied by a battery, which means that it will only be compatible with vape batteries that have the same threading.

There are two kinds of threading: Atmos and 510. Atmos threading almost solely works with -- you guessed it -- Atmos vapes, such as the Atmos Rx. 510 threading is more widely available, utilized such products as the box mods, oil vape batteries, as well as all of the products released by Yocan.

Another compatibility issue is the battery. Many atomizers are only able to be used with batteries that are above a certain mAh or wattage. The Yocan Cerum is one of these: Batteries with a lower power level -- think along the lines of a Pocket Vape -- will not suffice when you’re trying to use the Cerum. Instead, the batteries on the Yocan Evolve Plus or the Yocan Pandon will do the trick.

Box mod vape batteries are also popular for use with the Yocan Cerum. High-powered batteries such as the SteamCloud Box Mod -- which are often also used when vaping e-liquids -- have more than enough wattage to ensure that wax vaping with the Cerum can be done on an epic level.  You can take huge dabs of shatter or wax with this super powerful dab pen.  If you enjoy dabbing shatter, wax, or other concentrates, then get the SteamCloud Box mod vape because it's the closest you'll get to taking dabs on the go.

(A word of warning: The ideal wattage at which to vape with the cerum when using a box mod is between 15-25 watts. Any wattage above that runs the risk of damaging your atomizer.)

To Sum Up:The Yocan Cerum is the perfect atomizer for advanced-level vaporization enthusiasts who wish to take their wax-vaping activities to the next level.  Add this atomizer onto a SteamCloud Box Mod and you'll be able to take huge dabs of shatter out of this powerful dab pen.
